I created Stories21 as an online tool to facilitate a growing community of digital storytellers. The site contains video tutorials, book and equipment reviews, interviews, editorial content, and analysis of individual digital stories.
I’ve been working on this project off-and-on for quite a while, and the site is officially set to launch on the first day of the new year. My primary goal is to provide digital storytellers with a common space where they can find readings on storytelling and narrative theories, reviews of popular hardware and software options, interviews with storytellers and workshop facilitators, and tutorials for relevant storytelling tools. Ideally, I hope the site will garner enough interest to eventually serve as more of a social space for people looking for a niche community. I would love to think that one day people might think of Stories21 as a place they can invest long-term in learning the craft of digital storytelling. I like the idea of people being able to share their own finished stories, get feedback on their story drafts from small workshop groups, and challenge themselves to produce stories along with others by responding to community story prompt.
